Greetings to all and welcome to one of the most important newsletters of the year! In this addition of our association's newsletter you'll find all the information you need to make plans to attend our 60th anniversary edition reunion in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You'll notice that payment for the bus trip and for the banquet dinner is due by September 1st and payment and the registration form should be sent directly to Celebrate Pittsburgh & Beyond at 607 Boden Street, Turtle Creek, Pa. 15145-1411. The bus will leave the Holiday Inn Greentree on Thursday at 9am and return at 4pm. Cost is $59.00 per person and includes all admissions and lunch. We need a minimum of 35 people and can take a maximum of 45 people on the bus trip. Our banquet this year will be a choice of London Broil, Stuffed Chicken or Baked Cod. We will be entertained by "Piano Man and Singing Sensation" - Lee Alverson. Lee will take us on a musical journey that spans more than 50 years with a blend of trivia and perfect renditions of your favorite songs. The cost of $50.00 per person includes the banquet, taxes, gratuity, entertainment and breakfast at the hotel on Wednesday morning.
Room rates at the Holiday Inn Greentree are locked in at $79.00 per night plus tax. Room reservations should be made directly with the hotel by calling : (412) 922 - 8100 (sorry no 800#!!). The hotel address is : 401 Holiday Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15220. All room reservations must be confirmed on a credit card by August 23rd. Please reference the 44th Infantry Division when making your reservation to receive our special rate. The hotel will provide free shuttle service to and from the airport. I would like to thank Matt Jolma, our Vice-President, for adding his talent into the mix on the production of the newsletter.
I have been contacted recently by a number of individuals and groups who are looking for information regarding the 44th I. D. or a former member of the 44th. I was recently contacted by Ed Fealy who thinks his father was with the 44th as a Master Sargent. Ed's father's name was Edward Burke Fealy and he would appreciate any information someone may have about his father. I have also been contacted by representatives of Enchenberg and Montbronn, France. Both towns were liberated by elements of the 44th and are having 60 year anniversary celebrations in their towns this year. Anyone who has photos or information to help out those I mentioned above please contact me at 207-625-8933 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Well, only a couple of more months until we all meet again! Don't wait to make you travel plans or to secure your room, bus tour and banquet reservations. Looking forward to seeing you all in Pittsburgh this September!
